Below are monologues from my plays that individuals may use at no cost for auditions and classroom work. Here's how it works--please read the instructions carefully:
1.Email me with your name (first name only is fine if you're under 18; full name if you're over 18), school or theatre affiliation, city, state/country and the monologue(s) you'd like to use, and please let me know whether you will be using the monologue for classroom work or an audition. And don't forget that "please" and "thank you" go a long way.
Special Circumstances 1 (Public Performances/Competition): If you wish to use a monologue for competition or in a public setting (scenes night, etc), contact the publisher directly if it's from one of my published plays (contact me about my unpublished work).
Special Circumstances 2 (Teacher Use): If you are a teacher looking to use a group of my monologues, please keep in mind that the intent of this page is largely to help individual students and performers who may not be in a position to provide remuneration. While you will not be asked to pay if materials are only used in a closed classroom, please support me as an artist by A) Considering producing one of my plays, B) Spreading the word to other prospective producers about my work and C) Purchasing a copy of Young Playwrights 101, my playwriting book, or some of my published plays. 2. Allow yourself enough time for a response (minimum one week is recommended). If you write the day before you need a monologue, I may be traveling or working on a project and unable to respond, in which case you're out of luck.
3. If you'd like to read the entire play from which the monologue comes, you can do that. Just follow the link on the monologue's page: it will take you to the play's page, where you will find ordering instructions!
4. By using one of my monologues, you grant me permission to add you to my newsletter email list. I promise not to email you too often, and I will never share your email with anyone.
5.If you're a student, please tell your teacher or director about me! If you're a teacher or director, please consider my plays for potential production!

Rumors of Polar Bears:
Though the one-act version, available from Playscripts, stands on its own (and is perfect for competition!), this play was always intended to be a full-length composed of three acts: Rumors of Polar Bears, Ursa Major and Northern Lights. Look for the other two plays in the cycle sometime in 2012.
